He's Not Lucky
"He’s so lucky to have you." No no no no.
He’s not lucky to be in foster care. He’s not lucky to be away from his parents. He’s not lucky to have already experienced loss and neglect and trauma in his short life.
He’s not lucky.
I know that it's part of God's good plan for his story to be in our family right now. I see the blessing we're able to offer of a nurturing home, a safe place, a loving family. But he’s not lucky.
I celebrate the grace of God in bringing him into our home for this time. And I'll shout from the rooftops how lucky we are to get to be his family, to get to love him. But you'll never hear me call him lucky.
