I Don't Have To Be Weary
I finally said it out loud to my husband: I can’t do this anymore, I don’t want to do this anymore, I’m so weary of it all.
Weary, weary, weary was the word on repeat in my mind throughout the day. And I’m glad it was.
Because that word is a diagnosis that I know the cure for: “Do not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up.”
This command to not grow weary isn’t a call to just be better and stronger. It’s not even really a command at all. It’s a promise, a reminder, a hold-on-tight-to-it truth.
I don’t have to be weary...because God is doing something good.
He’s perfectly weaving His plan.
He’s accomplishing purposes I can’t see.
He’s writing a story I can’t imagine.
He’s preparing the harvest.
It’s not just that I shouldn’t be weary, it’s that I don’t have to be weary. That I’ll get to be a part of it all, if I do not give up.
And I have no intention of giving up.
