From a Mother's Chore to a Daughter's Worship

From a Mother's Chore to a Daughter's Worship

I struggle with the mundane of motherhood. Long days at home with kids, the same good and bad and sweet and hard over and over again, each day on seeming repeat. Sometimes I wonder what exactly it is I’ve chosen to do with my life.

For me it takes some mental manipulation—what the Bible calls “renewing your mind”—to get me back to where I need to be. To reorient & refocus, remind & re-find the joy of motherhood.

I pause the mindlessness of my momming norm and remember:
+ I remember that there’s no more important job in the world than the shaping of little souls.
+ I I remember that the humble tasks of motherhood—wiping butts & homework helping, middle of the night rocking & midnight chats, soothing toddlers & teens—is actually holy work.
+ I remember that the things that no one notices or thanks, He sees and celebrates and rewards.
+ I remember that my seemingly meaningless days echo into eternity.
+ I remember that everything that I do out of love for my God is miraculously transformed from a mother’s chore to a daughter’s worship.
