I Want to be a Perfect Mom for My kids
I was struggling. I didn’t take the time to work on my heart and choose love and patience or the space to work on my nervous system and find calm. I sinned against my family and hurt them.
As important as it is for my kids to experience consistent love from their mom, I know it’s even more important that they watch how mom repents & repairs when she fails at loving them the way she should.
That they see a mom who struggles & fights. That they see a mom who falls & runs to Jesus. That they see a mom who sometimes isn’t a great mom but always trusts her great Savior.
I want to be the perfect mom for my kids.
But having an imperfect mom serves to point them to the Perfect Savior.
It creates a roadmap for them for when they inevitably fail. They learn how to ask for & offer forgiveness. They learn to throw themselves upon grace. They learn that Jesus is always there, eager to forgive & transform.
Our God is so good & sovereign & wise that He uses all of us as parents—the good, the bad, & the ugly—to accomplish good in our children’s hearts & lives.
