It Takes a Willing Person to be a Foster Parent

“It takes a special person to be a foster parent.”

Or. Foster parents are just average people who’ve said yes to opening their hearts & homes to kids.

Let’s drop the whole “special” thing. It burdens foster parents with both a credit and a pressure we don’t deserve and shouldn’t have to carry. And it allows everyone else to exclude themselves with the admission that they’re not “special.”

Let’s level the playing field. Kids need homes and families, and they need average people to open their homes and families.

Sure, it takes personal work & learning & a whole lot of grace. But being “special” isn’t what qualifies you to be a foster parent. Being willing is.
