MELANIE: ON THE RIGHT CHILD + UNDIAGNOSED HEALTH ISSUES + POST ADOPTION DEPRESSION
Melanie Taylor is one of my dearest IRL friends. She’s the biological mama to three gorgeous/sweet/funny kiddos and adoptive mama to a little darling adopted from China. This episode we talk God bringing the right child into your home, advocating for a file-less child, and epilepsy + breast cancer + brain tumors. In one of my very favorite discussions of both seasons, we talk about the guilt and shame and letdown of post-adoption thoughts and feelings and the reality of post-adoption depression. Mel is my girl. I love her to death and enjoy talking to and learning from her. And this epi, you’ll understand why. It’s a good one, friends.
• The intro song, The Source, is brought to you by one of the best new worship bands out there, The Evidence. Yes, the frontman is my (talented, brilliant, adorable, Jesus-loving) cousin. No, that's not why I love them.
• The Taylors used Madison Adoption Associations to adopt their little girl and absolutely loved them.
• Mel shares about the Post Adoption Depression Facebook Group she found comfort and counsel in. Join her there if you’re struggling.
• Melanie’s watching the HGTV show, Hometown, and recently read Katie Davis Major’s book, Daring to Hope (which I STILL haven’t read!).
