LISA: ON AN ADOPTION WOVEN LIFE + THE CONNECTED PARENT + APPLYING WHAT WE’VE LEARNED
This week, I got to chat with my dear friend, Lisa Qualls, and episodes with friends are some of my very favorites. Lisa is the mother of 12 children…yes, 12 - through biology and adoption and she is just full of wisdom and grace. She co-authored The Connected Parent alongside renowned child-development expert Dr. Karyn Purvis and we talk a lot about what can be found in this amazing resource and its “Titus 2 feel.” We chat all things trauma, what it looks like to parent our children who have experienced trauma, and what it looks like to apply some of the principles from the book. Her recommended scripts have been a game-changer in our family and I just know you will find so many useful tips in this episode!
The intro song, The Source, is brought to you by one of the best new worship bands out there, The Evidence. Yes, the frontman is my (talented, brilliant, adorable, Jesus-loving) cousin. No, that's not why I love them.
Lisa’s new book The Connected Parent is an amazing resource for the foster care and adoption community…and really any parent who is searching for hope and restoration within their family.
Try Softer by Aundi Kolber is on Lisa’s current read list and it’s one I’ve read, too. Check it out if you are looking to move away from stress and into connection and joy.
Lisa recently became Enneagram Certified and shared that she’s been listening to allllll the enneagram podcasts to keep learning more and more. Check out this episode on The Enneagram and Adoption from her podcast, The Adoption Connection.
