CATHLEEN: ON SELF-REGULATION + MINDFULNESS + BRINGING THEOLOGY & PSYCHOTHERAPY TOGETHER
I am so excited to share my guest with you today, Cathleen Bearse. Cathleen is a psychotherapist in private practice and mama of four. A bio, foster, and adoptive mom, Cathleeen is passionate about raising awareness for foster youth, as well as providing support to foster families. Today she shares with us a little of her story and a lot of her expertise. We chat today about mindfulness, self-regulation…we jump into self-care a bit and we really talk about how theology and psychotherapy can come together in beautiful unison of following God’s Word through clinical practices. She also hosts the Fearless Fostering podcast, where she provides weekly education and encouragement for foster and adoptive moms. I just loved talking to Cathleen and learned so much from her…I even put some of my own junk on the table and asked for her help! I just know you’ll love hearing from her, too!
The intro song, The Source, is brought to you by one of the best new worship bands out there, The Evidence. Yes, the frontman is my (talented, brilliant, adorable, Jesus-loving) cousin. No, that's not why I love them.
Cathleen shares a bit about her Fear Less Online Course and you can find all the information about that here!
She has also developed a FREE self-care quiz that you can take to discover what type of self-care would serve you best at this point on your foster care journey.
Cathleen is currently reading Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. I’ve never read this one but definitely need to check it out and you should, too!
Real Mom (Yes, please!) and Risen Motherhood are podcasts that Cathleen is currently listening to.
You should also check out HER podcast, Fearless Fostering, where she shares encouragement and action steps and education for all things foster care.
