KRYSTLE: ON FAILED REUNIFICATION + PUSHY LOVE + PLAYING A PART IN ANOTHER FAMILY'S ADOPTION STORY

Krystle Bowen is a boy mom of three biological sons and a foster mom. This week we talk when things don't go according to your foster plans, namely: failed reunification and stepping back in and out, in faith. We chat loving on bio parents and going above and beyond. We each share our respective stories of playing a part in a friend's adoption. And then you know, The Office and breakfast sandwiches and all that good stuff you tune in for. Krystle's full of you'll-carry-them-with-you one liners and wise and compassionate truths. I'm sure you'll love and learn from her, just like I did.

The intro song, The Source, is brought to you by one of the best new worship bands out there, The Evidence. Yes, the frontman is my (talented, brilliant, adorable, Jesus-loving) cousin. No, that's not why I love them.

• Krystle and I talk loving on biological parents. We've both used pictures, a back-and-forth journal, gifts, and more to connect with mom. You can read my musings on biological parents here: My Foster Children Are Better Off With Me and My Foster Child's Family Is My Enemy.

• Krystle is the author of the made-for-foster-parents book, Edge of Wild. She calls it her "me too" book. She wrote it from the trenches, no answers or conclusions. Can't wait to read this one. You may remember a couple of episodes ago that Bryn shared how much this book had encouraged her.

• Krystle's reading The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity by Nadine Burke Harris. I haven't read it, but I have seen her viral TED Talk, and it is ON POINT. Check it out:

• Krystle recommended Bob Goff's book, Everybody, Always. I haven't read it, but Love Does, people.

• Krystle is watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (perfect if you love yourself some Seinfeld) on Netflix and The Office on repeat, forever (ditto).

* We've got another word-listener with a whole list of podcasts from Krystle: Reveal, Criminal, Typology, and (from my friends, the Berrys) The Honestly Adoption Podcast.
